Racing Insider's Podcast - Pet Day, Timing, and the Tire Situation
Published by CRATE INSIDER on 11th Apr 2022
Welcome to the Racing Insider’s Podcast!
Each week, Kate Dillon from Crate Insider and Steve Hendren from Hendren Racing Engines go live on the Crate Insider Facebook page to chat about world events, random things, and to answer tech questions.
This week Kate and Steve put emphasis on the pets in our lives for national Pet Day! Shout out to all the pets out there keeping their owners sane during some of the wildest times. They also answered tech questions regarding timing, engine thumps, carbs, and more! Tire prep is also a big deal right now, most series won't allow it. However, should that be changed now that tires are so hard to come by?
QUESTIONS ASKED ON THE SHOW
Why do some 604 crates thump real hard like they have high compression? And sound different then most 604? Are we missing out on secret horsepower??
Do we need to change E85 carb. jets for humidity changes like we do for alky carbs? a lean motor makes more power then a fat motor?
Any idea on a random back fire at idle on a 604 e85, super bowl?
Would incorrect timing cause a 602 to bust at high rpm?
What do you recommend for water temp when pulling on the track 604 e85?
What do you recommend for spark plugs and valve springs and run with your water in the radiator for a 602?
Is a 650 carb the correct carb for a 602 with hooker metric shorty headers or is it a possibility to go to say a 700 cfm?
What on head valve spring tester do you use on a 525? And what seat pressure should I be looking for?
Would getting a oil cooler on a 525 help with low oil pressure?
Have you tested with lighter balancer, does it make power?
What timing is recommended for 602 with x85 fuel?
