Welcome to our show Unsealed: Life Beyond the Bolts!

Each week, Kate Dillon from Crate Insider and Steve Hendren from Hendren Racing Engines go live on the Crate Insider Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Crateinsider/ to chat about world events, random things, and to answer viewer questions.

Some of the links mentioned in this weeks show include:

Questions asked and answered on the show include:

Is it legal to put a block off instead of a power valve in the carburetor in a 604 crate late model?

What is the optimal engine temperature for best performance on a 602 and 604 and do you prefer a low water pressure system like 18-22 lbs or a high water pressure system like 30-32 lbs?

For a 602 crate motor, some builders are claiming they’re getting 25+ more horsepower after they freshen the engine. Is this legally possible? And how much more can you get out of one?

Do you recommend locking the advance in the distributor?

On a 602, what fuel will give you the best power--91 pump gas,110 or E85?

Have you dynoed with avgas?

Is there a power difference in running the fuel pump on the block or on the back the motor on the bell housing?

What plug wires do you recommend for an HEI distributor?

On a 602 ran on dirt I've been told to remove the two plugs on top of the intake manifold. I don’t believe these are water ports? Your opinions?
